Luminout Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Luminout. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Service Provider and Scope
Luminout is a study platform for organizing learning materials, generating and managing questions, completing quizzes, tracking progress, and optionally subscribing to Premium (ad-free) access.
2. Applicable Law and Consumer Protection
These Terms are interpreted in line with applicable EU and Croatian laws, including mandatory consumer protection rules that cannot be waived by contract.
3. Eligibility and Accounts
- You must provide accurate account information.
- You are responsible for protecting your credentials and account activity.
- You must promptly report unauthorized account use or security issues.
- If local law requires consent/permission for minor users, you must ensure lawful authorization.
4. Core Features
Luminout currently includes features for:
- Subject and lecture organization.
- Question authoring and management.
- AI-assisted question generation from lecture content/files.
- Quiz attempts, quiz history, progress/streak tracking.
- Question export options (for example CSV/Anki text format).
- Premium checkout and subscription management.
5. Free and Premium Plans
Luminout may offer free and paid tiers. Premium features and prices are shown before checkout. Free-tier limits (including AI generation limits) may apply and can change over time.
6. Billing, Renewals, and Cancellation
- Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe.
- Subscription terms (price, currency, billing period) are shown at checkout.
- Unless stated otherwise, subscriptions auto-renew per the billing cycle selected at checkout.
- You can cancel recurring Premium billing through account controls; cancellation takes effect according to Stripe billing rules and your active period.
- Refunds are handled according to applicable law and payment provider terms.
7. Acceptable Use
- Do not use the service for unlawful, abusive, or fraudulent activities.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or overload the platform.
- Do not upload malicious files, scrape data, or bypass feature limits or security controls.
- You are responsible for ensuring that your uploaded, generated, and shared content complies with applicable law and third-party rights.
8. User Content and License
You retain rights in content you create or upload, subject to rights needed to operate the service. By using Luminout, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content strictly for service delivery, security, and support purposes.
9. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
AI-generated questions may contain inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing and validating generated content before relying on it for exams, coursework, or professional decisions.
10. Privacy and Data Protection
Personal data is processed as described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Advertising and Consent
Luminout may display advertising on free plans, including non-personalized ads where required by consent rules. Premium plans may remove ads where stated.
12. Availability, Updates, and Feature Changes
Luminout may update features, modify APIs, or perform maintenance. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.
13. Third-Party Services
The service integrates third-party providers (for example Google/Firebase, Google AI services, Stripe, AdSense). Their availability and terms may affect parts of the service.
14. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Luminout and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from use of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by mandatory law.
16. Suspension and Termination
Accounts may be suspended or terminated for serious violations of these Terms or where necessary to protect users, security, or legal compliance.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect legal, technical, or product changes. The latest version is published on this page with an updated date.
18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Croatia, except where mandatory EU or local consumer protection law requires otherwise. Disputes may be brought before competent courts in Croatia, without prejudice to mandatory consumer rights.
